One in eight jobs in Canada is in the agriculture and agri-food sector. By 2022, there will be 74,000 job opportunities available in Canadian agriculture

To address this issue, Agriculture in the Classroom Canada has created a genAG program for youth across the country, including P.E.I. This is Agriculture in the Classroom P.E.I.’s third year offering the genAG program to Island high schools.

“The genAG program requires students to work in small groups to operate as marketing companies who develop and implement marketing ideas that promote careers in agriculture to their peers”

The intention of the genAG program is to inspire high school students to consider careers in agriculture by engaging them in exploring the diversity of agriculture-related career opportunities available in their home provinces, in Canada and around the world.

The genAG program requires students to work in small groups to operate as marketing companies who develop and implement marketing ideas that promote careers in agriculture to their peers.

Each student company prepares and submits a presentation about their creative marketing idea.

The public is invited to be a part of the genAG provincial competition and see the work of these innovative youth who are interested in agriculture in P.E.I.

To RSVP or for more information, contact Marilyn Balderston, P.E.I. genAG program co-ordinator at 902-621-2299 or email here
