Current Roundtable Chair, Anne Wasko, received the 2019 Beef Industry Innovation and Sustainability Award award on behalf of the founding membership and council at the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association AGM in Ottawa on Wednesday, March 20.

“This award shows a bigger and broader audience of what the Roundtable for Sustainable Beef has been doing in Canada,” Wasko said. “I think just that acknowledgment in itself is really exciting and we’re very honoured to have been the recipient this year.”

She explains the Roundtable is designed to bring a diverse group of stakeholders such as beef producers, food retailers, conservation groups and other value chain members together to work towards a common goal of advancing beef sustainability and building public trust.

The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association says the Roundtable was nominated because of their work connecting traditionally diverse stakeholders to establish transformational change in the industry.

Wasko took on the Role as chair in the Fall of 2018, and says she’d like to give a big shout out to the founding members and council who’ve got the Roundtable to where it is today.
