Canadian Western Agribition opens Monday

One of the world’s largest livestock shows opens today at Evraz Place in Regina.

The Agribition is one of the most regarded livestock events in North America and typically features over 2000 head of livestock.

Canadian Western Agribition CEO Chris Lane said the show attracts visitors from as far away as China, South America and Africa to see the latest in livestock genetics and farm production methods.

“We have the world’s premier marketplace for cattle quality and breeding stock genetics, especially for countries that are looking to up their own game when it comes to the quality of domestic cow herds, whether that’s for beef production or their own export,” Lane said.

Lane said more than one thousand people from 80 countries will be among the 120-thousand visitors this week to Agribition. Which in of itself, creates a tourism and industry boon for the province of Saskatchewan.

“We did an economic impact study after last years show,” Lane added. “And the results highlighted $70 million dollars for the provincial budget, and just under $50 million directly spent right here in Regina.”

The show opens Monday and goes through to Saturday, November 24th, at Regina’s Evraz Place.
