Farmers’ Ability to Produce Food Jeopardised by Public Misunderstanding of Modern Agriculture
The General Manager of Manitoba Pork suggests it’s up to farmers to ensure the public is aware of what it takes to maintain a sustainable food supply

An article circulated through community newspapers and posted to Manitoba Pork’s web site examines the connection between farmers and the public and the need to make sure the public is aware of what it takes to ensure a sustainable food supply.
Cam Dahl, the General Manager of Manitoba Pork, explains people typically trust farmers but farmers don’t necessarily do a good job of portraying what modern agriculture is.
“Politicians and regulators really do take their cues from the public and if the perception of modern agriculture is not accurate then we’re going to get regulations that don’t necessarily fit”
