JBS pledges net zero greenhouse emissions by 2040
JBS SA, the world’s largest meatpacker, has committed to zeroing the balance of its global greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, amid criticism of its role in a Brazilian beef industry driving rainforest destruction

“We know it is very difficult to achieve this,” Chief Executive Gilberto Tomazoni said in an interview. “It will challenge the entire company.”
JBS said in 2019 that its own operations produce an estimated 4.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions from industrial facilities and 1.6 million tonnes from energy use.
