The Canadian Federation of Agriculture Hosts 2019 Federal Election National Agriculture Leaders’ Debate
Founded in 1935, CFA works on behalf of Canada’s farmers to ensure the continued development of a vibrant agriculture and agri-food industry in Canada
CFA is the country’s largest national general farm organization. Members include provincial general farm organizations as well as national and inter-provincial commodity organizations. Through its membership, CFA represents over 200,000 Canadian farm families.
The organization will be hosting an online debate with the leaders from the four main federal parties, focusing on the challenging issues presently facing Canadian farmers and food-processors.
“Based on the CFA’s Producing Prosperity in Canada campaign, debate questions will focus on Economic Growth, Food Security and Environmental Stewardship”
Currently Canada’s Agriculture and Agri-Food sector employs 2.3 million Canadians; that’s 1 in 8 jobs, making it the second largest employer in the country. Contributing over $140B in GDP each year, it is a critical component of the national economy.
Based on the CFA’s Producing Prosperity in Canada campaign, debate questions will focus on Economic Growth, Food Security and Environmental Stewardship.
CFA members and Agri-Food stakeholders across Canada look forward to hearing each party’s respective position on agriculture policy.
