New Data Management System Connects Ontario’s Chicken Industry
Ontario farmers are on call 24/7 so conducting business during business hours isn’t always easy
That’s one of the reasons Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) created CFO Connects, an online platform that’s evolving the industry from a paper based system to one that digitally tracks and manages operations.
From hatchery to chicken farmer to transporter to processor to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, CFO Connects is revolutionizing data management in the Ontario chicken industry. The program was recently developed with Growing Forward 2 funding administered through the Agricultural Adaptation Council (ACC) and led by the Chicken Farmers of Ontario.
“The system has literally reset how the Chicken industry does business”
The result is an all-in-one data management system for farmers and industry stakeholders like hatcheries and transporters. It’s also enhancing quality and productivity, improving customer service to farmers, managing on-farm costs, stimulating innovation and supporting risk management.
Using CFO Connects, everyone invested in Ontario’s chicken industry has access to real-time data and performance metrics that allow them to make better business decisions and operate successfully.
One of the obvious benefits of the new online program is the ability for Ontario chicken farmers to process business transactions with supply chain partners any time they want. Beyond convenience and flexibility, CFO Connects also facilitates consistent and uniform record keeping and an improved forecasting and business planning model.
The system has literally reset how the industry does business by creating efficiencies, improving food traceability, enabling new and effective management tools and analytics for chicken farmers. CFO Connects is keeping the sector competitive by simplifying, streamlining, standardizing and automating all of the industry’s operations in one spot, any time of the day.
This project was funded in part through Growing Forward 2 (GF2), a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. The Agricultural Adaptation Council assists in the delivery of GF2 in Ontario.
